Situated in the mountains of Costa Rica’s Pacific Coast, the Sat Yoga Ashram is an oasis of beauty and peace where you can experience an energy field of serenity, joy, and silence.

For three days and two nights, be immersed in a way of being that is stress free, truly balanced, and connected to the beauty and sacredness of every moment

Experience the majesty of the misty mountains, forests, rivers, and gardens. Enjoy mouth-watering vegetarian meals, mostly grown in our organic gardens, and prepared three times daily in our ashram kitchen.

Let your heart be opened by the beauty you encounter, by divine melodies of devotional music, and by a community of kind and inspiring beings. Let your mind be liberated from conflict, by powerful words of wisdom, and by the sublime energy of our meditation gatherings.


The tranquil ambiance that pervades every corner of the ashram will create the setting in which you will have the precious opportunity to re-connect to the bliss of inner silence.

Following the age-old practice of the yogis, we begin the day by meditating together at 4am, in the sacred hour before dawn, traditionally called Brahma Muhurat.

This most serene hour of the morning is filled with enlivening Shakti—a current of radiant divine energy. The power of Shakti opens the heart and extinguishes the noise and chaos of the chattering mind, re-orders the soul, and induces awareness of the vastness of consciousness and the sublime reality of Infinite Peace.

The weekend will include two silent morning sittings, accompanied by wisdom teachings and blessings to inspire the rest of the day.  You will also enjoy other forms of meditative practice such as: meditative walks and guided meditations, as well as kirtan, the singing of sacred mantras, powerful invocations to the divine presence within and without.

Meditating together, in the energy field of a group of experienced yogis, led by a true spiritual master, allows the inner portal to Silence to open more easily, and to bring about the possibility of a permanent awakening to the power of the Self.

Friday 

  • 2:00-4:00 pm  – Afternoon arrivals and orientation
  • 5:30pm  – Evening meditation and class led by Shunyamurti
  • 7:00pm   – Light dinner
  • 9:00pm   – Bedtime!

Saturday (AM)

  • 4:00am   – Early morning meditation with inspirational teaching
  • 5:30am  – Enjoy Arunachala spiced chai tea in the exquisite peace of the morning
  • 6:30am   – Sunrise yoga (asana
  • 8:00am   – Breakfast of fresh fruits, homemade toast/granola
  • 10:00am  – Guided meditation or a meditative nature activity 
 

Saturday (PM)

  • 12:00pm – Snack & personal time
  • 2:00pm   – Delicious vegetarian lunch
  • 4:45pm   –  Evening meditation & live music
  • 7:00pm   – Light dinner
  • 9:00pm   – Bedtime!

Sunday

  • 4:00am   – Early morning meditation with inspirational teaching
  • 5:30am  – Enjoy Arunachala spiced chai tea in the exquisite peace of the morning
  • 6:30am   – Sunrise yoga (asana
  • 8:00am   -Breakfast of fresh fruits, toast, and traditional Costa Rican dishes
  • 9:00am  – Nature or river walks
  • 12:00 noon Snack and departures

Nestled among flourishing gardens and cloud forests, our six comfortable bhavans (spiritual abodes), offer an ideal environment to embark on a profound inner journey. 

Each simple, yet tastefully designed, room provides comfortable sleeping space for one to three, with private single rooms often available upon request for a supplemental fee.

Our accommodations offer pleasant and spacious shared bathrooms as well as private balconies and large windows that overlook the natural beauty of the surrounding forests and gardens. The soothing sounds of flowing water and sweet songs of native birds (and sometimes the awesome howls of monkeys!) provide the perfect conditions for meditation and relaxation.

Accommodation at the Sat Yoga Ashram, Spiritual & Meditation Retreats, Costa Rica

Our Ashram kitchen serves mouth-watering vegetarian food, most of which is grown in our lush organic gardens and fields.

The vegetarian and vegan meals that are lovingly prepared in our kitchen, are integral to our ashram life, and are a product of the shared efforts of many of the ashram residents, cooks, and gardeners. Meals are an opportunity for us to commune, bless, give thanks, and enjoy our shared presence and abundance.  

We serve three meals daily. Breakfast includes fresh fruit, toast, and a selection of traditional dishes such as Gallo Pinto (Costa Rican rice and beans). Lunch is our main meal, and is abundant with fresh produce, tubers, salads, and legumes, all creatively put together to produce vibrant and appealing dishes. We always offer delicious dressings, sauces, juices, and desserts. The evening meal is light, and usually includes a soup and fresh salad.

Contribution

$300 Early Bird Rate, valid up to 14 days before the retreat

$350 Regular Rate

Shared rooms accommodate two to three persons. Bathrooms are shared with a maximum of four others. Private rooms are available for a supplement of $75.
