Prema-culture Class

Human beings are suffering on a massive scale the slings and arrows of outrageous uses and abuses of petrochemicals, pesticides, and other pollutants in today’s agricultural malaise. For this reason, many ecologically aware, Gaia-minded individuals are returning to a more holistic approach to farming and animal husbandry known as permaculture. Permaculture is an adapted form of agriculture designed to be sustainable, ecologically benevolent, and integrated with Nature as a whole. Within the permaculture movement, there are many approaches, ranging from organic farming to the more outside-the-box biodynamic farming, based on the vision of Rudolf Steiner, which works with the natural subtle energies and the intelligences known as “elementals” as well as the phenomenon known as “paramagnetism.”

Despite this renaissance taking place in agriculture, there is still something left out all the approaches developed so far. This is the secret of our Inner Nature. In order for a community to develop a truly sustainable existence, in harmony with Nature and among all members, then it must be founded on Divine Love. Ergo, we proudly present Sat Yoga’s more radical spiritual approach to permaculture: we call it Prema-culture. Prema is Sanskrit for Divine Love, which is the only power that can hold a community together through good times as well as bad. Divine love is the energy that motivates plants to grow to their fullest potential. It is what humans need to grow to our fullest potential as well. The two principles of Love and Wisdom, Prema and Pragya, must be integrated to build a truly wholocentric community in harmony with the Mind of Gaia.

Thus, in our Prema-culture class, we study not only the key insights of the theorists of the permaculture movement, including the subtle aspects of nature revealed by Viktor Schauberger, and other visionaries who have profoundly contemplated the physical and energetic aspects of nature, but we also apply the insights of the sages of the East who have understood how to become manifestations of Prema, the Love that holds the universe—as well as ourselves—together.

We warmly invite you to join in our studies of sustainability, ecology, mutual reciprocity, and Divine Love.

If you are new to the Sat Yoga Institute, we ask that you please sign up for an orientation before attending any of our classes. Thank you.
